Sweeping the Chimney
''You work rods and brush, knacks, angles, tactics.
A tarpaulin sheet with a hole in it splits.
Granite fire-bricks peek. A wrought-iron grate
at your heel upends. Downpour of soot
commences...''

Esteemed Irish poet Patrick Deeley, complemented by traditional Irish music from local musicians.
Patrick Deeley is an Irish poet and children's writer, born in Loughrea, County Galway and now living in Dublin. His poems have been published in many journals and anthologies since the late 1970s, and featured on radio and TV. Six full collections have appeared from Dedalus Press, as well as books in translation to Italian and French.
“Some poets make their way slowly, in fits and starts, to that place where emerging sensibility finds its own proper register in language. Others, luckier perhaps, are claimed by their own proper language from the start — and Patrick Deeley is one of those lucky ones.”
Theo Dorgan, Oulu Irish Festival Poet 2012
