Lourdes “Lou” Garcidueñas’ exhibition (Mexico) invites you to see the Mexican independent comic scene. The exhibition is about the fascination of fantasy and passion for comics and how it helps people to express themselves as artists. The exhibition narrates how they overcome obstacles she finds as an artist and as a Mexican.
“Living in an environment that is uncertain is sometimes hard, but you should also look for the bright side of things: finding strength in communities and your own hopes and dreams”, says Garcidueñas.
Garcidueñas describes the exhibition as a journey. She hopes the exhibition will highlight the diversity of Mexican comic book styles.
“I would like to see this exhibition as a tour. It describes ways to see the same reality in very different ways. There is not one Mexican style of making comics and this exhibition represents the diversity we have”, says Garcidueñas.
The exhibition opens on October the 10th at 8:00 PM at the Comics Gallery! and will be displayed until November the 25th. Admission is free.
