Culture Friday events are open for all, and held at Restaurant Valveen Paljetti between 4–6 pm. The program is a collection of performances, works and events of different art forms put together by experienced creators as well as newcomers.
“Often these evenings link up with festivals and other events happening at Valve simultaneously. It’s easy for anyone to join these weekend kick off’s with a joined opportunity to visit Valve’s current exhibitions – free of charge,” Valve’s Producer Ari-Matti Lappalainen says.
A Versatile and Distinctive Program
The event series starts on Friday the 30th of January at 4:30 pm, when Heybeautycollections’ Threads & Rhythms kickstarts the weekend in the spirit of African culture. The event hosts a relaxed fashion show, where fashion will be experienced as a live art form wrapped in music, movement, rhythms and storytelling.
On Sámi National Day on the 6th of February at 4 pm, a multitalent of Sámi art, musician and composer Ante Jalvela will perform on the Valveen Paljetti Stage. In Jalvela’s music, improvisation, different instruments, singing and a looper build broad sounscapes. After Jalvela’s performance the event continues in the spirit of Dálvemánnu-festival. On Valentine’s Day’s eve, Friday the 13th of February between 4–6 pm Timo Nykyri’s ukulele orchestra will perform the highlights of humor music.
On Friday the 20th of February, Valve2026 Culture Fridays event premieres an English spoken documentary about the birth of the Hill Climb Racing game. The documentary screens between 4–4:30 pm, after which the game designers from Fingersoft have a discussion about the work. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions about the game classic.
February’s last Valve2026 Culture Fridays will be held on the 27th of February, in the spirit of Arctic Pulse Event which promotes music from the Arctic regions. Electrofolk Duo Junna who combines Finnish folklore with different styles of electronic music will perform at 4 pm.
