Valve’s Urban Neighbourhood Culture is seeking cultural and art activities for the Kiiminki Syke-talo for summer 2026.
Proposals may be submitted by local artists and communities who can invoice for their work and operate independently during the activity period. The aim is to increase the use of the space during the summer season and create new participatory ways of implementing programming.
The form of implementation and the art discipline are open. We hope proposals will include a community-oriented perspective and activities that extend throughout the entire month of July. The activities must be open to all. A space called Sykesali, located in the Syke building, will be available for use in July 2026, but the activities may also take place elsewhere in the building or in its outdoor surroundings. Specific terms of use for the space will be agreed upon during the contract phase.
Activity period: July 2026. The activity may also extend beyond this period.
We will select art and cultural programming based on the following criteria:
- Promotion of participation
- Community-oriented perspective
- Consideration of local characteristics
- Realistic implementation plan and budget
- Accessibility
- The operator’s ability to work independently in the implementation
The allocated amount: Based on the proposals received, we will select 1–3 operators for the activity period. The total available amount for the activities is 5000–10000 €.
Notes
- The operator must not have any existing funding from the City of Oulu for the same purpose.
- This is not a grant. The activity is carried out as a purchased service.
Submitting a proposal
Proposals will be accepted through application form until 31 March 2026. We will review proposals already during the application period.
